1099-G: Unemployment Compensation

If you received a Form 1099-G for unemployment compensation that you received during the year, you can enter this in your TaxSlayer account by selecting the Federal Section tab then Enter Income Myself > Unemployment Compensation > Add/Edit 1099G.

If you are required to repay unemployment for the current tax year you can do so by going to the Unemployment menu and choosing "Repayment of Unemployment".

If you are required to repay unemployment for a prior tax year you can do so by going to the Itemized Deductions menu and entering the amount on the line "Repayment under claim of right" (if the amount is greater than $3,000). If the amount is less than $3,000 follow the directions on the same screen to enter it as an additional Miscellaneous Deduction.
