Help! My Password Is Not Working.

You’ve gathered all your documents and finally decided to file your tax return. You sit down, turn on your desktop or mobile device and type in You click the sign-in button and type in your username and password…nothing. The screen says, your password has not been accepted. No worries, we can help.

TaxSlayer makes it simple and easy to reset your password. At the Sign In page, click on the Forgot Password link and enter your username, social security number and the email address you used to set-up the account. Upon completing the necessary information, click continue and answer the security question. If you answer the security question accurately, you will be allowed to reset the password. If you’ve forgotten the answer to the security question, you will need to elect to have a security code sent to your email. After you retrieve the security code from your email, return to the page and enter it into the appropriate field. From there, you will be prompted to reset your password and you are done.

There are a few things to keep in mind when resetting or creating a password. Be sure to include the following:

  • between 8 and 16 character
  • a minimum of one lower case letter
  • a minimum of one upper case letter
  • at least one number
  • and one of these special characters: ! @ # $ % ^ & *

Simple. Now get back to slaying your tax return.
