Kentucky and Georgia Tech Face Off at the 72nd TaxSlayer Bowl

The University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have been selected as the standout college football teams to play in the 72nd annual TaxSlayer Bowl, Saturday, December 31, 11:00 am at Everbank Stadium, Jacksonville, Florida.

“The excitement for the TaxSlayer Bowl has been building since the beginning of the season. We are excited about the selections and look forward to a great matchup that will jump start the New Year and tax season,” said TaxSlayer CEO Brian Rhodes.

“Both Georgia Tech and Kentucky have storied football programs with fantastic fan bases,” said TaxSlayer Bowl Chairman, David Boree. “We are thrilled to host these two top-notch teams and their players, coaches and fans in Jacksonville for a great day of football.”

This is Kentucky’s first appearance at the TaxSlayer Bowl. Under the lead of headcoach, Mark Stoops, the Wildcats finished the regular season with a 7-5 record. The Yellow Jackets, coached by Paul Johnson, finished their season with an 8-4 record. They are making their eight appearance in the TaxSlayer Bowl, the last time being in 2007.

This will be the first time in over 50 years that the Yellow Jackets and the Wildcats have faced off on the gridiron. When the teams last met in 1960, Georgia Tech took the lead and won 23 – 13. Thus, we are excited to see who comes out on top.
