NASCAR’s Dale Earnhardt Jr. and extend partnership

NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and have extended their long-running partnership, adding a primary placement on his No. 88 Chevrolet SS for one 2016 Sprint Cup series race and an associated brand placement with Hendrick Motorsports for the remainder of the year.

The announcement was made Wednesday., an online tax preparation and e-filing service, will begin its seventh year as a key primary sponsor for JR Motorsports, the company owned by Earnhardt that competes primarily in the NASCAR Xfinity series.

“It’s been a very long and rewarding relationship with the Xfinity program at JR Motorsports,” Earnhardt said in an exclusive interview with “The opportunity to work together on a Sprint Cup car is a show of appreciation for the relationship and how enjoyable it has been to work with TaxSlayer.” will receive primary placement on the Nos. 7 and 88 Chevrolet Camaros for 10 Xfinity races next season.

“It has been a privilege to be associated with Dale Jr. and JR Motorsports for so long, and we’re excited to add a new chapter with Hendrick Motorsports next season,” said President and CEO Jimmy Rhodes.  “We have found an immense loyalty among NASCAR fans, but especially with Dale Jr.’s fans. We want to continue growing this partnership.”

Earnhardt said TaxSlayer’s loyalty parallels that of his fans who will be surprised and pleased to see TaxSlayer’s placement extended to the Sprint Cup series.

“NASCAR fans are brand loyal,” Earnhardt said. “When a company shows loyalty as TaxSlayer has done, the fans really latch onto that. More fans will start to use TaxSlayer services strictly because of that relationship they have with the race team.”

Earnhardt has 25 career victories, eight of which came under the Hendrick Motorsports banner. He has been voted NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver for 12 consecutive years.

“The TaxSlayer program has been incredibly effective, and all of us are committed to building on that foundation together,” said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and a partner in JR Motorsports. “We’re looking forward to seeing them across both series next season.”

Hendrick Motorsports adds a strong marketing team to the partnership that can help bring the TaxSlayer brand to new people, Earnhardt said.

“We are getting an opportunity to get some new, fresh ideas to maximize the relationship, more so off the race track to get more people understanding TaxSlayer and how to file their taxes with TaxSlayer,” Earnhardt said.

Earnhardt spearheaded a redesign of TaxSlayer’s red-and-black paint scheme, which will be revealed on Oct. 5. The Sprint Cup race in which Earnhardt will drive the No. 88 Chevrolet SS will be announced at a later date.
