Purchasing U.S. Savings Bonds with your Federal Refund

A feature has been added during the e-file process that enables you to purchase U.S. Savings Bonds using your anticipated Federal refund for yourself or another individual. This feature is located during the E-file process but will only be available to you if you are expecting to receive a refund of $50 or more. You will have the option to purchase up to three (3) U.S. Savings Bonds in $50 increments up to $5,000 but not to exceed your refund amount.

As stated above, this feature is only available during the E-file process. When you are ready to submit your Federal return for processing, select "E-file" located on the left side navigation bar. Continue through the e-file process until you arrive at the "Tax Return Charges" page. A blue link at the bottom of the screen will read, "Interested in savings bonds?". Simply click on this link in which a check box will appear. Select, "Yes, show me savings bonds options". Once this box has been checked, click "Continue". After you choose how you wish to pay, select "Continue" to enter the necessary information pertaining to the U.S. Savings Bonds.

Once the necessary information has been provided, please continue through the e-file process until you have successfully e-filed your return.
